The Eiffel Tower is walking across Russia. Eiffel towers around the world

The Eiffel Tower can be called one of the most recognizable architectural structures in the world. But it is also one of the most copied. In many large and small cities in the world, their "Eiffel" towers proudly stand. These are miniature copies, and buildings exceeding the height of the building of Gustav Eiffel. They can be both simple tourist attractions and perform quite practical tasks. I will try to collect in my post the most famous, remarkable and interesting.

Making a copy of the tower, by and large, is not so difficult. Her drawings are available on the Internet, you will also need a welding machine and high-quality fittings. With this small set, you can place copies of the Eiffel Tower in every yard.

Blackpool Tower

One of the main attractions of the English city of Blackpool. It was built in 1894. The height of the tower is 158 meters. The idea of construction belongs to the mayor of Blackpool and came to him after visiting the World Exhibition in Paris in 1889. He created a committee of entrepreneurs to raise funds for the construction of a structure similar to the Eiffel Tower in his city. The architects of the project were James Maxwell and Charles Tuke. The Blackpool Tower, unlike the Eiffel Tower, is not a free-standing structure, but is located on the roof of the Blackpool Circus building, which was built specifically for this.

Just as the Eiffel Tower has become a symbol of Paris, the tower in Blackpool has also become the most recognizable object of the city and its symbol. On the panoramic elevator you can go upstairs in a minute. Three upper platforms are available for tourists, two of them are open. On the bottom of them there is a piece with a glass floor, where everyone can test their courage.

In 2010, the tower was reconstructed: a new observation deck called the Blackpool Tower Eye was added and various attractions were added.

Copenhagen Zoo Tower

The tower of the Copenhagen Zoo is a 43 meter tower built of wood in the Danish commune of Frederiksberg. It is clearly visible at the entrance to the Frederiksberg Zoo and Park. The tower was built in 1905 and is one of the tallest wooden observation towers in the world. At its base, it copies the Eiffel Tower.

Hotel Paris in Las Vegas

In the center of the composition of the hotel "Paris Las Vegas" - a copy of the Parisian Eiffel Tower. Hotel Paris was conceived as a corner of France right in the middle of Las Vegas. This intention was reduced mainly to the reproduction of the Eiffel Tower. The Eiffel Tower of Las Vegas is a 1:2 scale copy of the Parisian Tower, so there is an elevator, an observation deck, and a restaurant. And the hotel rooms overlook the tower, so with a well-developed imagination, of course, you can imagine yourself in Paris.
"Paris" was opened on September 1, 1999, under fireworks from the "Eiffel" tower. French actress Catherine Deneuve lit the hotel's lights at the ceremony. When the Eiffel Tower was being built, it was conceived to be the full size of its original, but the airport was too close and the height of the tower was shortened.

Ural Paris

In the village of Paris, Nagaybaksky District, Chelyabinsk Region, Uralsvyazinform, the largest operator in the region, has built a cell tower in the form of a copy of the Eiffel Tower. The idea can be considered an extremely successful find both for the regional operator Yuzhnouralsk Cellular Telephone (YUUST), owned by Uralsvyazinform, and for the local administration. 50 meters high, it dominates the district in much the same way as the original in the French capital. The Ural village acquired its loud European name after 1812, when the Cossacks as part of the Russian army entered the capitals and cities of the defeated states. Their names, in mockery of their former arrogance, were given by the victors to the most seedy villages. There are among them Paris, Berlin, Leipzig, Varna. Now it is not God knows what villages - modest provincial villages. But recently, tourists have become frequent there - both native, Russian, and foreign. They are attracted here not only by the nature of the Urals, but also by the Eiffel Tower, erected in Paris in the Nagaybaksky district of the Chelyabinsk region.

The idea of the project belongs to the former head of the Nagaybak district, Kairbek Seilov. The regional authorities hope that the tower will become the visiting card of the Nagaybak region. It was built at the Zlatoust plant of metal structures, and the local mobile operator ordered and paid for the work of the Ural craftsmen. Yes, in fact, he still had to build a transmitting tower, and then there was an opportunity to do it with some grace. The equipment of the French company Alcatel is installed in the YuUST network. So the Eiffel Tower in the Chelyabinsk region is French not only from the outside, but also in terms of electronic filling. Operators have been using stylization of cell towers for certain elements of the landscape for several years. Of course, in terms of the scale and originality of the idea, the Ural creation surpasses everything that was before.

Eiffel Tower in Romanian Slobozia

The Eiffel Tower in Slobzia, in the southeastern part of Romania, is 54 meters high and is a replica of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The tower is part of a tourist complex built by a Romanian billionaire. The complex also includes the Dallas Ranch. The tower is illuminated at night.

Mini Eiffel Tower in Varna city

The mini model of the Eiffel Tower is located in the Bulgarian city of Varna, in the resort of Golden Sands. The height of the Eiffel Tower is 32 meters, at a height of 6 meters there is a cafe. The tower has become the main attraction of the resort and a popular meeting place. In the evening, the tower is illuminated and takes on an impressive view.

Tokyo TV Tower

The Tokyo TV Tower is a television and radio communications tower located in Tokyo's Shiba Park. The height of the tower is 332.6 meters, which at the time of construction made it the tallest steel structure in the world and still the tallest architectural structure in Japan. It has a lattice structure and, in accordance with aviation security standards, is painted in international orange and white colors. The tower is included in the list of 29 tallest buildings of the World Federation of Tall Towers and ranks 13th among them. Built in 1958, the tower was originally intended for television broadcasting to Tokyo and the Kanto region. At the moment, the antennas at the top of the tower are used to broadcast television and radio signals from Japan's largest television networks NHK, TBS and Fuji Television. Hisakichi Maeda, founder and president of Nippon Denpatō, originally intended to build a tower larger than the Empire State Building, which at the time was the tallest structure in the world, stretching 381 meters upwards. But due to a lack of funds and materials, this idea had to be abandoned even at the design stage. The chief architect of the new project was Tachu Naito, who had previously built many high-rise buildings throughout Japan. Critically evaluating the experience of the Western world, Naito took as a basis the French Eiffel Tower, built in Paris back in 1889.

In addition to its main purpose - the transmission of television and radio signals, the tower also serves as a tourist attraction, is considered one of the symbols of Tokyo. Every year, more than 2.5 million tourists visit the observation decks, halls and museums of the tower, and in total, about 150 million people have visited it since its opening. At around 145 meters there is a two-story main observatory, in addition to it, a small special observatory is also available for visitors, located at an altitude of 250 meters. The Tokyo Tower is often used as a setting in films, anime and manga, and also serves as an indication that the events unfold in Tokyo.

Petrin Tower

The Petrin Tower was built on the hill of the same name in Prague on the initiative of the Czech Tourist Club after visiting the World Exhibition in Paris in 1889, and is similar to the Eiffel Tower. In 1890, it was Wilem Kurz who published the article "Observation tower on Petrin Hill - a view from the near future of Prague." With the initiative to build an observation tower in the Petřín district of Prague. The tower is made of metal. The weight of the structure is about 170 tons. The designers of the tower are engineers František Prášil and Julius Soucek.
Construction began on March 16, 1891, and on August 20, its grand opening took place. The height of the tower is 60 meters. After the installation of a television antenna on it in 1953, the tower grew by another 20 meters. It was the first television relay station in the Czech Republic, which operated until 1998, when a new TV tower in Zizkov was opened. From the observation deck of the tower, located at a height of 55 meters, a magnificent panorama of Prague opens up with all its sights, picturesque hills and surroundings. In 1999, restoration and restoration work was carried out on the tower.
On the lower level of the tower there is a souvenir shop and a small cafe, and on the underground level there is a small museum of the literary character Yara Tsimrman.

Perhaps the leader in the number of copies of the Eiffel Tower (as well as in the number of all kinds of copies in general) is China.

Located in the resort town of Tianducheng. Tianducheng is being built in the suburbs of Hangzhou as a town of luxury houses in the style of French mansions. In the center of this town is just a copy of the Eiffel Tower. True, due to high housing prices, Tianducheng is still sparsely populated, but many tourists come to see the theme park and the French-style area.

One of the most famous sights of the Chinese city of Shenzhen is the theme park "Window of the World" "Window of the World" is a collection of about 150 replicas of world attractions and monuments. Some of the copies are smaller, and some are two-thirds the size of the original. And finally, I want to add that our city also has its own copy of the world-famous Parisian building. It is located at the entrance to the French House shopping center. Our tower, although not big, has also become a kind of attraction. It looks especially cool at night when it is illuminated by multi-colored lights.

The Eiffel Tower, which was built back in the nineteenth century, or rather in 1889, was criticized by the public. It was planned to demolish it, thanks to which one adventurer managed to sell the tower twice for scrap. However, despite the criticism, strong fires and suicide pilgrimage, the famous Eiffel Tower survived. Soon it became a symbol of Paris, and then the most famous architectural landmark on the planet. Its image is replicated on postcards and not only ... 90 years have passed since the death of the creator of the recognizable tower, engineer Alexander Eiffel. A real estate site site offers a look at photos of copies of the Eiffel Tower, which are now in different parts of the world.

Clones of the well-known tower can be found in different parts of the planet, for example:

  • Japan;
  • USA;
  • Russia;
  • European countries;
  • China.

Tokyo TV Tower, built in 1958, "copied" from the original Eiffel Tower. But engineers from Japan managed to modernize its design. As a result, the Japanese copy has become as much as 13 meters higher than the Parisian one, but at the same time lighter by 3.3 thousand tons. Despite its size, it is able to withstand devastating earthquakes and typhoons.

Las Vegas, a casino city in America, is rich in various architectural delights. At the end of the 20th century, a hotel with the telling name "Paris" was opened in the city, of course, not without its Eiffel Tower. A 1:2 scale replica of the Paris landmark is the main decoration of the hotel; it houses a restaurant and an observation deck.

In addition to the Eiffel Tower in Las Vegas, there is another copy of the symbol of Paris in the USA. It is located in the amusement park "Kings Island" in Mason, Ohio.

Surprisingly, it is a fact: the Parisian tower is also in the villages of Russia. In the harsh Chelyabinsk region there is a village called Paris, and in this "Paris", of course, there is its own Eiffel Tower.

It was built to the delight of the local population by the largest mobile operator in the region. The building, fifty meters high, is five times smaller than the original, although this is enough to rise above the village and be the main attraction of the entire district.

A small eight-meter copy of the French tower was built for the 120th anniversary of the legendary landmark of Paris. They built it in the park of the city of Gusev, in the Kaliningrad region. There she stands to this day.

The main ones in the world in copying everything in a row are the Chinese, and here they were ahead of the whole world and "strangled" everyone else with a considerable number of copies of the Eiffel Tower.

One of her clones is located in the city of Shenzhen in the park "Window on the World". The theme park has collected numerous replicas of the sights of the world. Not without a 108-meter clone of the Eiffel Tower.

Another Chinese clone of the Paris tower is located near Hangzhou. The copy was supposed to be the main decoration of the new city of Tianducheng, which was originally built in imitation of the capital of France. However, the project of the city in the French style and with luxury real estate turned out to be unclaimed on the market. Very few managed to buy an apartment in the new building Tianducheng. Now the city, built at the end of the "zero" years, is still sparsely populated. That's why it was called "ghost town". Now tourists go there just to look at a copy of the Eiffel Tower.

The Chinese managed to put a copy of the French tower even on the roof of the building. For what purposes it was installed there and what function it performs is a mystery.

However, Europe is also trying to attract tourists with copies of the famous design. Tourists, in turn, readily come to see the clone of the Eiffel Tower, for example, in Prague. The Petrina observation tower, which parodies the original, is located on the top of a hill, and from a height of fifty-five meters a magnificent panorama of the Czech capital opens up.

In Brussels, the capital of Belgium, a clone of the French tower is located in the Mini-Europe park, where copies of the most beautiful monuments of the EU countries are collected. All these copies are presented in 1:25 scale. Here the Eiffel Tower is in the company of London's Big Ben and other famous architectural monuments.

The French themselves call the building "the iron lady" ("La Dame de Fer"). This name of the Eiffel Tower is due to the material of which it is composed - metal.

Dimensions

The height of the Eiffel Tower is 324 m. This is the data for today, but the original height of the Eiffel Tower in Paris was 312 m. The modern figure has increased due to the new antenna. Interestingly, the creator of the structure called it simply "300-meter tower." At the time of its construction, the steel Eiffel Tower in Paris was taller than any building in the world. To approximate its dimensions, the height is usually compared with an 81-story building.

What is taller than the Eiffel Tower? The Parisian building remained the tallest in the world until 1930, when the Chrysler Building appeared in New York. To date, even more towers have been built that surpass Tour Eiffel Paris in height: for example, the famous Burj Khalifa in the United Arab Emirates, and in Russia -.

The mass of the Eiffel Tower is 10,100 tons, the metal frame weighs 7,300 tons. Considering how huge this structure is, the weight of the Eiffel Tower is considered not very large. The number of different iron parts is 18,038 pieces. The dimensions of the Eiffel Tower are taken into account in the design features, so the fluctuations of the structure during hurricanes and winds reach no more than 15 cm.

The area of the Eiffel Tower, or rather the space on which it rests on the ground, is 500 sq.m (one side between the columns is 125 m).

How much to climb the Eiffel Tower? The ascent to levels 1 and 2 will take approximately 15 minutes on foot. Only the elevator goes to the top, the trip lasts a few minutes.

On the vaults of the arch of the Eiffel Tower is the 1st platform. First level The Eiffel Tower with a lookout occupies an area of 260 sq.m. The total area of the 1st floor is 4,415 sq.m. There is no viewing platform here, but another entertainment is popular - the glass floor. On the 1st level of the Eiffel Tower, there is an opportunity to rest before climbing further, you can have a bite to eat, go to the cinema with projections of a film about the tower, buy souvenirs, learn more about the building using interactive stands. There is also the Gustave Eiffel Hall with panoramic windows, where you can order an event. Of the historical monuments, a fragment of a spiral staircase has been preserved, along which Eiffel climbed to his office at the top. On the 1st floor in winter, a skating rink is poured.

2 level The Eiffel Tower is the second pyramid on 4 columns with a vault. The total area of this level is 1,430 sq.m. Here is the first observation deck of the Eiffel Tower, its area is 140 sq.m. From here you will see the main Parisian sights, including:, etc. You can go to a chic restaurant or souvenir shops.

3 level The Eiffel Tower is one large column, consisting of interlacing 4 main columns. The total floor area is 250 sq.m. The platform of the Eiffel Tower in the form of a square at a height of 276 meters has a side of 16.5 m. From here, the most impressive views of the city open up. Even higher, there is a lighthouse, above which, at a height of 300 m, there is a small platform (1.4 m - the length of the side). On level 3, the office of G. Eiffel was restored, where the scene of the engineer's meeting with the great inventor T. Edison is reproduced. There is also a model of the Eiffel Tower, or rather, its top, as it was in 1889. The model is painted in the original color of the tower. It should be noted that it is usually quite windy at the top.

The apartment on the Eiffel Tower is what some people call the office that Gustave Eiffel created for himself upstairs.

You can read more about the floors on the official website of the Eiffel Tower. There are 5 elevators from the esplanade to the 2nd level, two of them are preserved original models, they are located on the eastern and western supports. These are unique mechanisms that have no analogues. The first elevators on the Eiffel Tower moved with the help of hydraulic pumps, now electricity and motors are used. At the time of the appearance of the "iron lady" such elevators were a real technical triumph.

Only by elevator can you reach the observation deck of the Eiffel Tower at the very top. Two elevators take visitors to the top of the tower. They are made according to the duolift system: each mechanism is two cabins that act as a counterweight to each other, that is, if one cabin goes up, then the second one goes down. Thanks to modern technology, the Eiffel Tower elevators now run in the cold season.

Steps on the Eiffel Tower: 1792 steps lead to the top.

Under the balconies of the first level, you can see the inscriptions on the Eiffel Tower. These are the names of scientists of the XVIII-XIX centuries from France, who became famous for their achievements, and those people who contributed to the construction of the Eiffel Tower. They were not made immediately, but at the beginning of the 20th century.

The style of the Eiffel Tower is constructivism. Many agree that it perfectly conveys the spirit of the 19th century, when the cult of the progress of science and technology reigned. The shape of the Eiffel Tower - a pyramid on columns, at the time of creation looked very futuristic and innovative. She demonstrated the best engineering solutions. The material of the Eiffel Tower is steel, which also looked very modern and unusual.

La Tour Eiffel has changed colors several times in its history. Painting of the object is carried out regularly, once every 7 years, and is an important event. The paint is applied not only to maintain a beautiful appearance, but also to protect the structure from oxidation.

In different historical times, one could see the red Eiffel Tower, and the colors of ocher, and chestnut-brown, and golden.

Eiffel tower color Today, the special shade "Eiffel Tower Brown" has been selected. Towards the top, the color changes to ensure the same perception of the entire structure.

To get a colored Eiffel Tower, 25 painters are hired, who work by hand. They apply anti-corrosion agent and coats of paint. All employees are specialists in working with metal at high altitude. At the time of work, the architectural monument is not closed for tourists, although painting lasts about 18 months.

The surface area for paint on the Parisian Eiffel Tower is 250,000 sq.m.

Chronology of colors:

  • 1887-1888: "Venetian Red". The parts were painted in this shade in the workshop before the turret was assembled.
  • 1889: thick red-brown.
  • 1892: ocher brown.
  • 1899: 5 shades used from yellow-orange at the base of the Eiffel Tower to light yellow at the top. A 7-year staining cycle is adopted.
  • 1907-1917-1924-1932-1939-1947: tan.
  • 1954-1961: brown-red.
  • Since 1968: the color that best harmonizes with the Parisian landscape has been officially chosen. 3 tones are used: the darkest on top and the lightest on the bottom.

Eiffel Tower illumination

The Eiffel Tower at night is no less beautiful and also attracts tourists. On December 31, 1985, engineer and electrician Pierre Bidault invented the illumination lighting of the "Iron Lady" of Paris. It consists of 336 yellow-orange light bulbs that create the effect of gold. Thanks to this idea, inspection of an architectural monument at night has become very popular. Rays of light illuminate the structure inside the Eiffel Tower so that the beams that make up it are clearly visible. Special sensors react to darkness and turn on the lights.

In 1999, in anticipation of the year 2000, an additional decoration was invented. The lighthouse on the night Eiffel Tower began to give light signals with a range of 80 km. The second innovation is sparkles twinkling with lights on a golden illuminated tower. These ideas of illumination on sights have survived to this day.

The Golden Eiffel Tower - this kind of lighting can be seen every evening in Paris after dark. The first 5 minutes of every hour you can see not just the luminous Eiffel Tower, but the twinkling that passes through the entire structure. It resembles sparkles scattered all over the monument. This flicker turns on every hour until 01:00 at night. According to reviews, this is a must-see if you want to appreciate the beauty of the tower's illumination.

At different times, in honor of significant events and holidays, a special illumination of the Eiffel Tower was turned on. For example, lights were lit on it, duplicating the flag of the European Union, when the country presided over the EU.
